Parish Council v Heritage Foundation
The Parish Council say they want to shut-down the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation and replace it with their own governance.
There are a few reasons why this is not a good idea...
- The Heritage Foundation puts back approximately £3 million in charitable contributions to the town each year.
- The Broadway Cinema, Standalone Farm, Plinston Hall, and the Heritage Museum are a few of the faciities provided by the Heritage Foundation which would be lost to the town if the Parish Councillors got their way.
- The Heritage Foundation assets of approximately £182 million would be lost to the town and subsumed back into central government coffers.
- Any facilities that the Parish Council attempted to provide in exchange would be paid for out of our own pockets through massive Parish Council Tax increases.
- In order to attempt to shut-down the Heritage Foundation, the Parish Council would have to embark upon a High Court case with costs running to the £millions (which would be paid for out of massive Parish Council Tax increases).
- Such an attempt to shut-down the Heritage Foundation in the High Court would be futile unless the Heritage Foundation was failing to perform its duty (which it isn't). So the Parish Council would be wasting our £millions.
HELP is not particularly pro Heritage Foundation, but we are against senseless over taxation and wastage of our money.
